Hospice is a special way of caring by providing physical, spiritual, emotional and social care for the terminally ill.
Serenity Hospice affirms the concept of palliative care, a program of care with comfort and the quality of life being the treatment goal. When a cure is no longer possible, Serenity Hospice believes that living and dying is a normal part of the life cycle and that care which focuses on providing comfort for the patient and their family.
Serenity Hospice addresses the needs of the terminally ill by including the patient, family, significant others, specially trained volunteers, caregivers from the community, representatives from the medical field, social workers and clergy on the care giving team. This Hospice team approach to care focuses on managing the patient’s physical symptoms and addressing the emotional and spiritual concerns of the patient and family. The Hospice Team works together to develop a plan of care and to provide services which will enhance the quality of life and provide support for the patient and extended family during the terminal illness and bereavement period.
Serenity will be an advocate for the patient and family in assuring their right to dignity, choice, and comfort are met, while at the same time, maintaining focus on the quality of life, not the quantity of time.
At the core of Serenity Hospice’s philosophy is that we believe in Caring for families, and in providing that care we will treat and respond to our families as if they are our own…There is just no other way to care for people…
